In some situations; you may need to split or divide a household. Such situations include Divorce or Separation of a couple leading to the separation of assets. This procedure documents how you could approach such a scenario.
When you split a household; there are some added implications. If the original household has any Interactions that are Phone Calls (Make a Call or Receive a Call); these will stay as part of the original household; as these are associated with a contact person from that specified household.
- Select the household.
- Select Edit and click Duplicate Current Entry.
A Box will appear asking what aspects you would like to duplicate; we normally would recommend selecting all options in this list as the history of the household to this point is common to all contacts in that household.
Now we have two Households; the Original; and the duplicate.
Identify which of the contacts will retain the original household and who will be part of the new household.
In this example we will rename the duplicate "Cameron Family" Household to Nancy Cameron Household
Click Edit on the Household and give it a new name, enter the new address and other contact information.

Next, to remove the Contacts from the new Household, go to the Contacts Tab and select the Contacts you wish to remove from the new Household and click Delete:
When prompted, type DELETE in the pop up window and click DELETE :
Repeat the above steps to remove the Contacts from the original Household.
