Configuring Web Access on a Windows 2008 32-bit or 64-bit Server
  Question

Configuring Web Access on a Windows 2008 32-bit or 64-bit Server

Problem

When installing Maximizer CRM on a Windows 2008 Server you may find that you are unable to install the IIS Components of Maximizer.

  Answer

Solutions

  1. When using Windows 2008 Server, depending on the edition, you may need to enable the .NET Framework feature in order to install Maximizer IIS components.

To enable the .NET Framework feature, follow these steps:
    1. Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features.
    2. Select the Turn Windows features on or off option.
    3. Select Features and then select Add Features.
    4. Select Microsoft .NET Framework.
    5. Click OK.

  2. The IIS 6 Management Compatibility Role Services are not installed for Web Server (IIS)

To enable the IIS 6 Management Compatibility, follow these steps:
    1. Go to Administrator Tools > Server Manager.
    2. Click on Roles.
    3. Scroll down the Roles list until you reach the Web Server (IIS) section.
    4. In the Web Server (IIS) section select Add Role Services.
    5. In the Add Role Services dialog box, expand the Management Tools.
    6. Under the Management Tools branch you should see a checkbox for IIS 6 Management Compatibility. Select the IIS 6 Management Compatability option as well as all its sub-items.
    7. Click Next.
    8. If prompted, include additional components.
    9. Click Install.
    10. Click Close when finished and close the Server Manager.
    11. Try the Maximizer CRM installation again.

  3. Some other normally available Roles for Web Server (IIS) are not installed.

Look at the following Screenshots below. Your Web Server (IIS) installed Roles should closely match these settings, and if they don’t you will need to install the additional components.

NOTE: If you are still having problems, and you are running on a 64-bit version of Windows 2008, there may be additional steps required. Please see the KB article at the following link for details:
