  Answer

Back up Important Files

Please Pay Attention to the Following Information Prior to Removing the Software:
  • Perform a backup of all Maximizer Address Books
Prior to performing any system modifications, you should perform a backup of any, and all, Maximizer Address Books. Backing up your data prior to removing the software will prevent accidental data loss. Please refer to the Maximizer 9 User's Guide for more information on backing up your address books.
Topic Info To find the location of each Maximizer Address Book; from Maximizer click File > Open Address Book. Highlight an Address Book and click the Explore button to view the location of that Address Book.

    Also backup the following:

    • The holiday file (mxzhol.nam.nam) found in the <Maximizer Program folder>\MaData6 directory.
    • The user dictionary file (userdict.lex) found in the <Maximizer Program folder>\MaData6 directory.

  • Move all of MBD (*.mbd) files to another directory
If you are currently using ecBuilder Pro or ecBuilder DE, it is recommended that you copy all .MBD files to another folder on your hard disk. Moving these files will prevent the accidental loss of your ecBuilder site data.

  • Identify all applications that use the Pervasive Database Engine
Uninstalling Maximizer 9 and the supporting Pervasive database engine may negatively impact other applications on your system. It is recommended that you identify all applications that rely on the Pervasive database engine and ensure that they are properly backed-up prior to uninstalling Maximizer.

  • Close all applications before beginning the uninstall process
Applications such as anti-virus, personal firewalls, web browsers as well as the Microsoft and Corel Office Suites, if left running, may interfere with the removal of Maximizer 9. Prior to removing the software, you should close all applications, including Maximizer, MaxAlarm, and MaxFinder, to ensure the software is removed correctly.
