  MaxExchange Synchronization Server 9 Service Release 2
  Question
  This document provides information about MaxExchange Synchronization Server 9 Service Release 2 - Series 1635. This service release contains all fixes from MaxExchange Synchronization Server 9 Hot Fix 2 for Service Release 1 - Series 1609. All issues described below have been resolved.
  1. Key Value Generation Problem
    An issue may result regarding key value generation when creating new Distribution Sites and Teams from MaxExchange Site Manager. These entries may not be saved to the SQL database. In addition, some types of entries such as Favorite Lists, Column Setups, and Strategies may not be synchronized properly from a Pervasive database to a SQL database.
  2. Simultaneously Modified Notes and Documents Not Updated
    Simultaneously modified notes and documents on remotes and servers may not have been updated properly after synchronization.
  3. MaxExchange Server Closes After Delete
    Under certain circumstances, MaxExchange Server would close after an Address Book entry was deleted on a remote and synchronized to the server.
  4. OrderDesk Fields Removed from Remote
    Under certain circumstances, modified OrderDesk fields on a remote were removed after processing the next packet from the server.
  5. Related Entries Not Synchronized
    If an Address Book entry had more than one related entry, only one entry would appear in the Related Entries tab after sending a refresh to a remote.
  6. Global Edit Changes Not Synchronized Properly
    When using global edit on a remote to make changes to mandatory table user-defined field items using the "Replace table field values" rule, values for these fields were not synchronized to the server properly; both the new value and the old value appeared in the field.
  7. Opportunity Document Cannot be Opened
    When an opportunity had a large document and a refresh was sent to a remote, the file could not be opened on the remote.

  IMPORTANT NOTES:

For MaxExchange Synchronization Server users who have not installed previous hot fixes for MaxExchange Synchronization Server 9 Service Release 1:
If you were running MaxExchange Synchronization Server version 8 or earlier and have upgraded to MaxExchange Synchronization Server 9 Service Release 1 - Series 1552, but you have not yet upgraded your Address Book, YOU MUST INSTALL MAXEXCHANGE SYNCHRONIZATION SERVER 9 SERVICE RELEASE 2 BEFORE UPGRADING YOUR MAXIMIZER ADDRESS BOOK TO VERSION 9.

  • To install this service release, you must be logged into Windows as an administrator.
  • For customers using Windows Terminal Server or Citrix MetaFrame, copy and run this software update directly from the computer hosting MaxExchange Server.
  • If all your server and remote databases are Pervasive, you can also install this service release in a mixed-mode environment, where the MaxExchange Synchronization Server is running MaxExchange Synchronization Server 9 Service Release 2, but the remote machines may be running any of the following versions:
    • Maximizer Enterprise 9 Service Release 1 - Series 1552
    • Maximizer Enterprise 9 Hot Fix 1 for Service Release 1 - Series 1605
    • Maximizer Enterprise 9 Hot Fix 2 for Service Release 1 - Series 1609
    • Maximizer Enterprise 9 Service Pack 1 for Service Release 1 - Series 1618
    • Maximizer Enterprise 9 Service Release 2 - Series 1635

    However, if you have any SQL databases in your MaxExchange environment, YOU MUST update all the server and remote machines to this service release at the same time. You should process all the packets between the server and remotes prior to installing this service release.

The following software versions must be installed before installing this service release:

  • Maximizer Enterprise 9 Service Release 2 - Series 1635
    – and –
  • MaxExchange Synchronization Server 9 Service Release 1 - Series 1552 OR MaxExchange Synchronization Server 9 Hot Fix 1 for Service Release 1 - Series 1605 or MaxExchange Synchronization Server 9 Hot Fix 2 for Service Release 1 - Series 1609

To download and install this service release using Live Update:
  1. In Maximizer or Administrator, select Help > Maximizer Live Update.
  2. Select the update to download and install (MaxExchange Synchronization Server 9 Service Release 2).
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Note: MaxExchange Synchronization Server 9 Service Release 2 will be available from the Live Update Server starting 11:00 AM (PT)October 16th, 2006.

Alternatively, you may apply this service release manually by following the below instructions:
  1. Close all applications.
  2. Click the link below to download MaxExchange Synchronization Server 9 Service Release 2.
  3. Open Windows Explorer and browse to the service pack file (MX9SR2.EXE).
  4. Double-click the file.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions.
