Before You Begin
Close all background and foreground applications on your computer.
- For Window 95/98/ME workstations press <Ctrl-Alt-Delete> and click End Task on all applications except for Explorer and Systray.
- For Windows NT/2000 workstations press <Ctrl-Alt-Delete> and click Task Manager. Under the Applications tab, remove all listed programs.
- Back up your Address Book. Make a back up of your Address Book and then test the back up to ensure the files are valid. See Maximizer User's Guide for information on backing up an Address Book.
How You Uninstall
Maximizer 8 or Maximizer Enterprise 8 users click the following link for uninstall instructions Uninstalling and Reinstalling Maximizer 8.
Maximizer 7 or Maximizer Enterprise 7 users click the following link for uninstall instructions How to uninstall and reinstall Maximizer 7. All other users perform the following instructions:
- Remove Maximizer via the Control Panel
- Click Start > Settings > Control Panel
.
- Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
- Highlight Maximizer and click Add/Remove. If the program asks you to remove shared files, click No to All.
- If your previous version of Maximizer is still listed here, remove it as well.
Click OK to close the Add/Remove Programs window and close the Control Panel window.
- Remove shared files
- Click Start > Find > Files or Folders (or Start > Search > For Files or Folders).
- Search your entire computer for the following files:
WBTRV32.DLL
W32MKDE.EXE
W3DBSMGR.EXE
W32MKRC.DLL
W32MKSET.EXE
MXMAIL97.DLL
MXZSTP32.DLL
MXZBTR32.DLL
*.TSF
MXGETSET.DLL
MXCHKDIG.DLL
MAXIMIZER.MIF
Note: If these files are located in a different folder, other than C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM, C:\PVSW, or C:\PROGRAM FILES\MAXIMIZER, rename them instead. Make a note what files are renamed.
- Search for and remove the PVSW folder. This folder is found c:\PVSW.
- Close the Find Files or Folders window.
- Remove Registry Entries
WARNING! The following steps involve modifying the Windows Registry. Modifying or deleting registry keys can adversely affect your computer if done incorrectly. Before you modify the registry, backup the registry. Please consult with your systems administrator or Maximizer Software’s Customer Support department if you require assistance.
- Click Start > Run, type regedit and then click OK.
- Click + beside HKEY_CURRENT_USER.
- Click + beside Software.
- Highlight and delete Maximizer Technologies (if it exists).
- Highlight and delete Btrieve Technologies (if it exists).
- Highlight and delete Pervasive Software (if it exists).
- Click - beside HKEY_CURRENT_USER.
- Click + beside HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
- Click + beside Software.
- Highlight and delete Maximizer Technologies (if it exists).
- Highlight and delete Btrieve Technologies (if it exists).
- Highlight and delete Pervasive Software (if it exists).
- Click Registry > Exit to close the Registry.
- Preserve your data files
Make a copy of your Maximizer Address Book files to another directory to ensure that you have a backup of your Address Book(s).
- Run Windows Explorer.
- Find the Maximizer program directory. It’s typically located at (C:\Program Files\Maximizer).
- Highlight the Address Book folders and choose Edit > Cut.
- Select another folder and choose Edit > Paste.
- Delete the Program Folders
- Find and highlight the Maximizer program folder.
- Delete the Maximizer folder.
- Restart the Computer
Choose Start > Shut Down, select Restart and click OK.
